The mission of Gabriella Charter Schools is to join academic rigor with the creativity of dance to engage the hearts and minds of young people in underserved communities, empowering them to excel both inside and outside the classroom. Gabriella Charter Schools is composed of two high-performing, dance-themed charter schools in the Los Angeles community. GCS 1 serves grades TK-8 and is located in the community of Echo Park. GCS 2 serves grades TK-8 and is located in the community of Historic South Central. GCS has garnered accolades, including the State’s Distinguished School Award and Exemplary Arts Program Award, the California Honor Roll, California Gold Ribbon Award, the Title 1 Achievement Award, California Pivotal Practice Award, the California Charter School of the Year award, and a ranking by USC as one of the best charter schools in California. The Middle Grades Humanities Teacher is a passionate educator who empowers each student to grow and meet their full potential. Working in collaboration with partner teachers, RSP teachers, arts teachers, and school administrators, the Middle Grades Humanities Teacher designs and implements a rigorous instructional program, fusing English language arts and history instruction in a learning environment which nurtures and develops the socio-emotional intelligence and capacity of their students. GCS teachers embrace diversity and learning differences, constructing opportunities that nurture all students’ growth.
