Gabriele & Company is working with an established manufacturer of custom engineered systems and precision mechanical assemblies serving the aerospace, defense, alternative energy, and medical markets. They have an immediate opening for a Senior Product Development Engineer — a hybrid role for an experienced engineer who can move fluidly between product design, NPI, manufacturing engineering, and process/tooling development.
This is a hands-on, technically deep position. You will own products and processes across their full lifecycle: from concept and proposal through prototype, production launch, and sustaining engineering. You will work directly with customers, suppliers, and internal manufacturing teams, and you will be expected to act as a subject matter expert in at least one core process discipline.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop new products, including conceptual design, drawing packages, GD&T, and design reviews
- Lead and support NPI from quote through production release, including cost estimating and proposal support
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, routings, and work instructions across machining, brazing, welding, assembly, and test
- Provide sustaining engineering and product support for the life of the product
- Interface directly with customers and suppliers on technical requirements, design review, and program coordination
- Lead failure analysis and corrective/preventive action; resolve inspection discrepancies using CMM data, test data, and hand measurement
- Process ECNs, DMRs, and MRB activity
- Participate in R&D and new-technology development
- Mentor engineers and designers; serve as a technical resource across the team
What You Bring
- 8 years of related engineering experience spanning design, NPI, and manufacturing
- BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
- Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in at least one of: CNC machining, brazing, GTAW welding, or precision assembly (machining and/or welding preferred)
- Experience with structural considerations for mil/aero applications — materials, shock and vibration
- Experience in military, aerospace, or other regulated/spec-driven environments
- CNC and CMM programming familiarity; able to read and interpret inspection reports and use hand measuring tools
- Strong technical judgment — asks the right questions and drives issues to root cause
- US Citizenship required (ITAR)
