What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Store Associate |Holiday Decor Specialist (Part-Time, Seasonal) position at Gabriel's Christmas?
Our store is where the magic of Christmas comes to life, and our associates are vital to creating a distinctive, memorable shopping experience for our customers. Holiday Décor Specialists are expected to provide outstanding customer service through a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require.
Candidates must be available to work 3-4 days per week with open availability between regular store hours. The person(s) selected for this role will regularly be scheduled on weekends. All associates are expected to work on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.
Note: This is a seasonal position that will commence in September and terminate at the end of December.
Essential Functions
- Makes personal connections with customers by making eye contact, smiling and greeting them in a courteous and friendly manner. Develops solutions for customers by listening to their needs and recommending the appropriate products. Inspires customers and celebrates their purchases, creating a lasting, positive impression of our store.
- Maintains selling floor presentations, and restocks them as needed.
- Processes online orders and prepares items for shipment.
- Effectively uses store systems and adheres to inventory control and store operating procedures.
- Maintains a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm reflecting our commitment to our customers.
- Maintains in-depth product knowledge and awareness of promotional events to inform our customers.
- Maintains good housekeeping standards and helps ensure a safe shopping environment for everyone.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty. Safeguards merchandise, information and cash.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support store operations.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Previous retail sales experience required.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers in-person and over the telephone. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic Mathematical Skills: Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to use a calculator to calculate percentages and ratios.Must be able to accurately make change in cash.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business. Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
- Physical Demands: This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 pounds.
