5 Axis CNC Operator / Programmer

We're hiring an experienced 5 Axis CNC Operator/Programmer for a precision manufacturing shop in Troy. You'll program, set up, and run 5 axis machining centers on complex, tight tolerance parts, from first article through production.
What You'll Do
- Program 5 axis CNC machining centers using CAM software and edit programs at the control
- Set up and operate 5 axis mills, including fixturing, work offsets, and tool setting
- Read and interpret blueprints, 3D models, and GD&T to plan machining strategies
- Prove out new programs and optimize toolpaths for cycle time, finish, and tool life
- Select cutting tools and set speeds and feeds for a range of materials
- Inspect parts with micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and height gauges to verify tolerances
- Troubleshoot machining, setup, and quality issues and make corrections as needed
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep your work area clean and organized
- Work with engineering and quality on part improvements and new jobs
What You Bring
- 3 years of CNC machining experience, with hands on 5 axis setup and operation
- CAM programming experience (Mastercam, NX, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, or Haas controls preferred
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Experience holding tight tolerances on complex parts
- Able to work independently and own a job from programming to final part
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or machinist apprenticeship a plus
