Managing the efficient, precise, and timely preparation of all clients’ tax returns, the Manager handles most tax matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts meticulous tax review and approval of varied tax returns and government tax audits.
- Handles larger tax returns individually and assigns tasks to preparers as needed.
- Displays expert knowledge and mastery of advanced technical skills for client advice.
- Ensures client service tasks are completed within set timelines and budgets.
- Participates actively in client meetings and tax planning for large clients.
- Acts as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and A&A team on specific tax queries.
- Prepares more complex business tax returns.
- Takes responsibility for direct client service with specific clients.
- Keeps firm informed of important tax developments affecting clients.
- Manages and delegates government tax audits; may represent clients before tax authorities.
- Ensures smooth processing of tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Maintains accurate and prompt billing processes.
- Contributes to firm practice development through engagement with referral sources and community events.
Supervisory Duties:
- Develops, coaches, and trains Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-seniors, and Staff accountants.
- Familiar with Tax staff qualifications for tailored training and development.
- Participates in Tax Department reviews and assessments.
Qualifications Required
- Five to seven years’ public accounting experience with demonstrated progression in tax complexity.
- Minimum one year supervisory experience in tax preparation.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with a preference for a master’s in taxation.
- Active CPA license.
