An expanding manufacturing organization in North America is in need of a qualified Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and manufacturing cost accounting across various facilities.
The Controller will supervise the accounting team and collaborate closely with plant management, commercial teams, and corporate finance to enhance financial discipline, improve reporting accuracy, aid operational decision-making, and sustain audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all accounting functions, such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, cost accounting, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
- Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures to ensure timely and precise financial reporting.
- Create and uphold accounting policies, internal controls, and processes conforming to U.S. GAAP.
- Collaborate with plant and commercial leaders on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cost management, and profitability reporting.
- Manage standard costing, inventory reconciliations, rate studies, product-line analysis, and financial reporting for multiple sites.
- Oversee external audits, tax submissions, regulatory reporting, and audit-preparedness efforts.
- Present financial outcomes, risks, trends, and business prospects to senior executives.
- Assist in ERP implementations and finance-process enhancement endeavors.
- Lead, cultivate, and hold the accounting team accountable for their performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field required.
- CPA and/or master’s degree preferred.
- 15–20 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Minimum of three years of direct supervisory or leadership experience.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, manufacturing cost accounting, financial modeling, and multi-site consolidations.
- Prior involvement in managing external audits.
- ERP familiarity needed; preference for proficiency in SAP.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Effective communication at an executive level, coupled with analytical, problem-solving, and team-building aptitudes.
