CAD Technician-Construction Staking & Drafting

Job Description: GEI Utility Construction is a utility construction and services company supporting both public and private sector clients. Our work is focused on electric utility, telecommunications, and data center infrastructure projects, including substations, underground utility installation, fiber networks, and related site development.

We’re looking for an experienced CAD Technician who can take ownership of their work and produce accurate, reliable drawings. We are seeking an individual with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience. This role plays a key part in supporting both our field crews and project managers, so the work needs to be clear, consistent, and right the first time.

You’ll be working from real-world data like field notes, utility locates, survey information, and project details, and turning that into drawings our team and clients can actually build from.

This job is based in Chouteau, OK, however remote option available for candidates in the Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX area.

What you’ll be doing:

· Create and manage CAD drawings based on field data, project notes, and client requirements

· Take ownership of drawings from start to finish—not just portions of them

· Coordinate with project managers and field teams to keep drawings accurate and up to date

· Produce as-builts, layouts, and client-ready deliverables

· Review and clean up drawings for accuracy, clarity, and consistency

· Catch missing or conflicting information early and flag it

· Help improve drawing standards, templates, and workflows where it makes sense

What we’re looking for:

· Strong experience with AutoCAD in a production environment (Civil 3D experience preferred)

· Background in utility work, construction, or infrastructure-related projects

· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines without sacrificing quality

· Solid understanding of construction drawings, utility layouts, and plan sets

· Someone who works independently and communicates clearly when something doesn’t add up

Nice to have:

· Experience with electric utilities, telecom, or data center projects

· Familiarity with subsurface utility data, utility locating (GPR, EM), or survey workflows

· Experience with Trimble, GPS data, or integrating field-collected data into CAD

· GIS experience (ArcGIS or similar)

· Experience producing as-built documentation for clients

• Must pass pre-employment and random drug screens
• Must pass pre-employment background check
• Must have valid Driver's License
• Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401K available after 60 days, split between employer and employee (60/40 respectively). Employer pays 100% of insurance premium after 1 year of employment.

Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
