Job Description:
G8 Kids Childcare Center is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and energetic School Age Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for school-age children, including before and after school care, school closures, and summer programming.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a group of school-age children
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and homework support
- Maintain active supervision and compliance with all MSDE licensing regulations
- Safely escort and supervise children during arrival, departure, and all transitions
- Assist with transportation procedures, including receiving children from school, supervising children during loading/unloading, conducting name-to-face attendance verification, and ensuring safe transition from school to center and center to school, as applicable
- Maintain accurate attendance records and perform required head counts during transportation and transitions
- Support children’s social, emotional, and academic growth
- Maintain classroom organization and positive behavior management
- Communicate professionally with families, school personnel, and staff
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing requirements
Qualifications (MSDE Requirements):
Candidates must meet Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Office of Child Care requirements for a School Age Teacher, including:
- Must be at least 19 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must meet MSDE School Age Teacher qualifications, which may include one of the following:
- 90-hour School Age Curriculum certification or approved equivalent coursework
- 45-hour Growth and Development and 45-hour School Age Curriculum (as applicable)
- College coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or related field
- Experience working with school-age children in a licensed childcare or educational setting may be required per MSDE regulations
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must pass required background checks and medical clearances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a licensed childcare center or before/after school program
- Knowledge of MSDE licensing regulations
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Reliable, positive, and team-oriented
