G2 Software Systems, Inc. (G2) is on the lookout for an energetic, innovative, and driven Network Engineer to join our cutting-edge team.
About the Role:
As a network engineer at G2, you will support the design of networks. Your specific tasks include developing network topologies and templates based on system requirements, creating network templates and IP plans, and producing test plans and documentation. You will also be responsible for configuring and documenting SDWAN solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design and development of network systems.
- Develop network topologies, templates, and IP plans based on system requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and test plans.
- Configure and document SD-WAN and SDN solutions.
- Troubleshoot and restore network and system outages.
- Work with L2/L3 switches, routers, and security appliances.
- Utilize virtualization technologies to support network engineering.
- Collaborate with Navy and DoW stakeholders in client-facing environments.
- Assist in advancing complex networking projects and contribute independently to development efforts.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physical Science, or a related field.
- 6 years of experience supporting the engineering of Information Technology systems for a DoW or Government Agency.
- 3 years of experience developing technical documentation.
- Proven track record of performance in client facing roles that require engagement and relationship building with stakeholders across Navy programs, the DoW, or other federal agencies.
- Experience with SDN/ SD-WAN Technologies and vendors including VMware, NSX-T, Cisco, Juniper, and open-source solutions.
- Experience with network configuration for L2/L3 switches, routers, security appliances (firewalls, NIDS, NIPS, etc).
- Experience developing and documenting network topologies.
- Experience in troubleshooting and restoring network and system outages.
- Experience in virtualization technologies.
- CCNP (or equivalent) certification.
- Active DoW Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with RF communications, specifically MILSATCOM or COMSATCOM technologies.
- Experience leveraging NetDevOps or DevSecOps to scale enterprise level engineering projects.
- Experience with Network Automation in Python, Ansible, NETCONF, and/or RESTCONF
- Experience modeling network configuration in JSON, YAML, or Jinja
- Experience developing and maturing complex, collaborative networking projects and working autonomously to move network development forward
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to navigate each department at G2 and at the assigned client facilities.
Location:
This is a full-time hybrid position based in San Diego, CA, where you’ll work side by side with the team and our clients to achieve mission success. Being on-site allows us to deliver the hands-on support our clients rely on, fostering collaboration, innovation, and real-time problem-solving. Travel <15%.
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation range for this position in California is $130,000/year to $160,000/year, depending on your expertise, and market location conditions.
