What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Laser Operator position at G & W Products Inc?
G & W Products is a leader in contract metal manufacturing and fabrication. Founded in 1968, our areas of expertise include metal stamping, laser cutting, fabrication, manual and robotic welding, tool and die work, powder coating and assembly. Our modern facilities include 170,000 square feet of manufacturing space between three facilities located in Fairfield, OH. We specialize in numerous industries including construction, transportation, energy, and defense. We are hiring for 2 - 2nd or 3rd shift Lasor Operators.
This position will set up, operate, and maintain CNC laser machines to support high-quality, process-driven, and efficient production in a fast-paced metal fabrication environment, while adhering to all safety standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; comply with 5S and all safety protocols.
- Locate and load the correct laser programs from the server to the machine.
- Load and unload sheet metal and parts using proper material handling equipment.
- Verify machine settings, monitor processing, and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and quality using precision measuring tools
- Perform secondary operations, including part grinding, dressing, or deburring, as required.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance and assist with preventative maintenance tasks.
- Identify and report machine, material, or quality issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Actively participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset.
- 1 years of experience operating CNC lasers or CNC equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with laser machine maintenance and sheet metal processing is a plus.
- Experience with sheet metal punching and understanding of die clearances is desired.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Basic math skills and proficiency with measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
- Must be able to be certified to operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts and reach trucks).
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment.
- Able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Basic computer skills required for loading programs, inputting quality data, and interacting with ERP systems.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience

3rd shift runs Monday - Thursday from 7:00 pm - 5:00 am
