D&R Engineer – Body & Exterior Systems

Job Summary

We are seeking a D&R Engineer – Body & Exterior Systems to support the design, development, validation, and release of automotive body and exterior components for vehicle programs. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design Studio, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Suppliers, and Program Management to deliver high-quality products that meet cost, weight, performance, timing, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and release activities for body and exterior components such as fixed glass, wipers, spoilers, roof rails, badges, running boards, appliques, and related systems.
• Manage product development from concept through launch and production support.
• Develop and maintain engineering deliverables including ESOW, Engineering Concepts, BOMs, and WERS releases.
• Support sourcing activities, supplier engagement, design reviews, and engineering change management.
• Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, customer requirements, manufacturing standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate validation, durability testing, prototype development, and product sign-off activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design, manufacturing, and quality concerns using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Collaborate with suppliers, assembly plants, and global engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 3 years of automotive Design & Release (D&R) engineering experience.
• Experience with automotive body or exterior systems/components.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Teamcenter
• Vismockup
• AVBOM / FEDE BOM
• WERS
• CAD Design
• Experience supporting component design, validation, testing, and production release.
• Strong project management, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
