Role Description
The Electrical Estimator is a full-time position based in the Greater New Orleans Region, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Galliano, Houma, or broader Gulf Coast area. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates for commercial, and infrastructure projects by reviewing drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
The Electrical Estimator will perform quantity takeoffs, develop labor and material pricing, solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations, and prepare detailed cost summaries and proposals. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and operations personnel to validate estimates, identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities, and support overall bid strategy.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining estimating databases, tracking historical cost data, assisting with bid reviews, and participating in project turnover meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and can successfully manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in electrical estimating, including quantity takeoffs, labor analysis, material pricing, and proposal preparation.
- Experience with Accubid or equivalent electrical estimating software, including database management, takeoff development, bid preparation, and estimate tracking.
- Experience with cost control practices such as budget development, cost tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Background in electrical contracting, with familiarity in field installation practices, NEC requirements, and industry standards.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems and power distribution used in industrial, commercial, power, and infrastructure projects.
- Education or professional experience in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical Estimating or a related technical discipline.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and project management tools used to analyze data and prepare estimates.
- Strong analytical, numerical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior estimating experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work within the Greater New Orleans Region, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Galliano, Houma, or surrounding Gulf Coast areas.
