Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to join our dynamic team in Portsmouth, VA. This full-time, on-site role is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects while ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
The Project Manager will oversee all phases of project execution, including schedule development, resource coordination, progress tracking, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shipyard environment.
Key responsibilities include supervising daily project activities, coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, conducting inspections, and proactively resolving logistical and operational challenges. The Project Manager will also maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise trade labor supporting U.S. Navy repair work packages
- Review contracts, specifications, schematics, and blueprints to define scope and requirements
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, materials, and logistics
- Track schedules, budgets, labor hours, and billing documentation
- Conduct field inspections to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance
- Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining production milestones
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting using Microsoft 365
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen with active DoD SECRET clearance (or higher)
- 10 years of Project Management or Supervisory experience supporting U.S. Navy ship repair
- Experience in an industrial shipyard environment
- Background in a skilled trade (Electrical, HVAC, Pipefitting, Welding, Painting, Shipfitting, Forklift, or Aerial Lift operations)
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
