G.I. Industrial-Marine LLC is seeking a Project Manager to oversee labor support operations for newly awarded U.S. Navy contracts at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

This position is ideal for a recently retired or honorably separated U.S. Navy leader with experience supervising repair, maintenance, modernization, or industrial operations involving Navy vessels.

This is a hands-on waterfront management role — not a desk-only project management position. The selected candidate will be responsible for daily workforce oversight, customer coordination, scheduling, accountability, and contract execution in an active shipyard environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee skilled and unskilled trade labor supporting U.S. Navy contracted work
  • Coordinate daily workforce assignments and operational priorities
  • Interface directly with Government personnel, contractors, and shipyard representatives
  • Monitor contract performance, manpower utilization, schedules, and production progress
  • Review work packages, drawings, schematics, and contract requirements
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and customer requirements
  • Manage employee timesheets, attendance accountability, and labor reporting
  • Coordinate materials, subcontractors, and support services as required
  • Conduct routine jobsite walkthroughs and operational inspections
  • Assist with workforce hiring, onboarding, and personnel management
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records
Minimum Requirements
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance REQUIRED
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory or management experience involving repair, maintenance, modernization, or industrial operations aboard U.S. Navy vessels
  • Experience working in or around Navy shipyards, waterfront operations, or industrial maintenance environments
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple operational requirements simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Backgrounds

Strong preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds such as:

  • Recently retired or honorably separated U.S. Navy personnel
  • Chief Petty Officer or First Class Petty Officer leadership experience
  • Engineering Department leadership
  • Surface ship maintenance and repair experience
  • Shipyard availability coordination
  • Quality Assurance or maintenance management experience
  • Prior experience at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, BAE, MHI, NASSCO, Colonna’s Shipyard, Fairlead, or similar environments

Compensation & Benefits
