Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Hand to join our agricultural team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in farming and animal husbandry, with the ability to perform various tasks related to crop production and livestock care. This role requires physical stamina, mechanical knowledge, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of farm operations.
Duties
- Assist in daily farm operations including building and maintaining fence, handling brush, lawn/pasture maintenance, loading and unloading equipment, weed-whacking
- Occasionally provide care for livestock, ensuring their health and well-being through proper feeding, watering, and monitoring.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery, including tractors and forklifts, ensuring all equipment is in safe working condition.
- Perform equipment repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for various farming tasks.
- Implement irrigation systems to ensure optimal water supply for crops.
- Supervise other farm workers as required, providing guidance and support in daily activities.
- Engage in horticultural practices within greenhouses or outdoor settings as necessary.
- Handle heavy lifting and operate heavy equipment safely while adhering to all safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in farming or agriculture is ideal but not necessary.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices including animal care and handling techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform equipment repair and maintenance tasks.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as tractors and forklifts Is preferred but not necessary
- Familiarity with welding techniques is a plus.
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating crop yields or feed ratios.
- Ability to lift heavy loads consistently throughout the workday.
- Experience with horticulture or greenhouse operations is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
