What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Leader position at G.F. Munich Welding LLC?
Job Description
Munich Welding is seeking an Engineering Lead to guide our detailing and engineering function while staying closely connected to fabrication and operations. This is not a desk-only role. It’s a leadership position for someone who understands how drawings turn into steel, and who takes ownership of making that process smoother, clearer, and more reliable.
If you believe engineering exists to serve production, value clarity over complexity, and lead people with accountability and respect, this may be the right next step for you.
As Engineering Lead, you will:
- Lead and support a small engineering/detailing team
- Ensure shop drawings are accurate, usable, and delivered on time
- Partner closely with fabrication and operations to reduce rework and confusion
- Set technical and behavioral standards for the engineering function
- Develop people, improve processes, and help the company scale responsibly
This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people leadership. You will review drawings, solve problems, coach team members, and stay engaged with the shop floor.
Lead the Engineering and Detailing Team
- Provide daily direction, support, and prioritization for engineering/detailing work
- Review shop drawings and job packets for accuracy, clarity, and constructability

Maintain Strong Technical and Process Standards
- Ensure consistent use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Maintain revision control, documentation standards, and drawing quality
• Support AISC documentation and compliance requirements
- Identify and implement improvements to engineering workflows and tools
Stay Connected to the Shop
- Work directly with fabrication leaders to ensure drawings reflect real-world build conditions
- Help resolve issues, clarify scope changes, and support production flow
- Be visible, approachable, and engaged — not siloed
Develop People and Culture
- Train, mentor, and develop engineering team members
- Set clear expectations and hold standards with fairness and consistency
- Model Munich Welding’s values: accountability, teamwork, and respect for the craft
Pay: $68,000.00 - $88,500.00 per year
