Design Manager

A hands-on design role bridging creative vision and technical execution — from concept through construction documentation. The Design Manager drives day-to-day design development, coordinates across disciplines, and ensures design intent is realized on time and on brand. Ideal for a commercially-minded designer with deep expertise in workplace transformation and building repositioning.

Design

• Lead design from programming through FF&E and documentation
• Translate client goals and workplace strategy into functional concepts
• Oversee space planning, finishes, and furnishings selection
• Collaborate with architects, technical directors, and PMs

Team & workflow

• Mentor intermediate and junior designers
• Review work for quality, clarity, and project alignment
• Organize tasks, deadlines, and internal workflows
• Run design meetings, pin-ups, and coordination reviews

Client & documentation

• Present concepts, mood boards, and plans to clients
• Turn client feedback into clear design direction
• Oversee Revit models, finish schedules, and construction sets
• Review shop drawings and submittals during construction

Building repositioning

• Design lobbies, amenities, spec suites, and base building upgrades
• Understand landlord-driven projects and broker collaboration
• Develop test fits aligned with real estate trends

Qualifications

• 8 years in commercial interior design, workplace and repositioning focus
• Bachelor's or Master's in Interior Design or Architecture
• NCIDQ strongly preferred
• Portfolio with corporate interiors and amenity-rich commercial projects
• Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Enscape
