The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles. This position is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet and equipment.

G.A. West's sister company, Legacy Equipment is currently seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles. This position is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brake systems, suspension, steering, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct regular maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups.
- Use diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical bulletins to troubleshoot and repair complex issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed and parts used.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks meet safety and quality standards.
- Perform inspections to identify wear and damage and recommend corrective actions.
- Keep work areas clean and organized and comply with safety and environmental regulations.
- High school diploma or GED (Technical or vocational training preferred)
- 2 years of experience working on diesel engines or heavy equipment
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electronic systems
- ASE Diesel Certifications or equivalent are a plus
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and schematics
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, squat, and stand for long periods
- Experience with heavy-duty trucks, trailers, buses, or construction equipment
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance inspections
- Welding and fabrication skills a plus
- Computer literacy for diagnostic software and repair documentation
- Strong communication and time-management skills
