Job Overview
G.A. Peak Excavating, Inc. is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operator(s) to support and execute general construction tasks in the Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Lehigh County areas. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maneuvering and maintaining heavy equipment to prepare and shape construction sites efficiently and safely. Your mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience will be vital in executing site development tasks with precision and confidence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to both small and large-scale construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and to the highest standards. This position is not site specific as there will be work needed on various jobsites and locations. Availability to work up to 10-12 hours per day and weekends if required.
Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment including excavators, dirt roller, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and graders to perform site preparation and grading.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance including lubricating, fueling and cleaning.
- Assist with site layout, excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling to support construction activities.
- Assist in the training of new or less-skilled Equipment Operators.
- Coordinate with project managers and crew members to execute tasks efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
- Load and unload materials using appropriate machinery such as loaders and excavators.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, inspections, and work performed for project documentation.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment such as excavators (including Caterpillar models), dozers, dirt roller, loaders, backhoes, and graders. PREFER - (5) years of experience operating heavy equipment associated construction
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment systems for troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Construction site experience demonstrating familiarity with safety standards and operational procedures.
- Knowledge of construction processes including grading, excavation, and site development.
- REQUIRED - Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- REQUIRED - Reliable transportation to and from work.
- REQUIRED - Must successfully pass a post-offer/pre-employment screening for controlled substances in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining safety awareness.
