Overview

Join our team as an Industrial Base Analyst and support the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) by researching industry competitiveness and trade policy issues critical to the defense industrial base. You will gather data from industry and agency stakeholders, develop surveys and Power BI dashboards, and deliver memos, reports, and briefings that equip senior leaders to make informed, strategic decisions.

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm onsite at the Herbert C. Hoover Building in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth regulatory and industry competitiveness research.
  • Engage with a spectrum of defense and non-defense industry vendors and agencies to gather essential data, and use those key data points to help craft surveys that capture the core challenges and opportunities within the industry.
  • Author detailed memos and formal reports based on research findings to communicate insights to program leaders and senior stakeholders across federal agencies.
  • Develop performance metrics and monitor progress, reporting back to stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Support the creation, implementation, and management of defense industry surveys.
  • Manage databases and build data visualization dashboards in Microsoft Power BI to enhance decision-making processes.
  • Present analysis results and recommendations to interagency officials, equipping them to make well-informed decisions and take strategic action on program operations, issues, and policies.
  • Prepare and maintain program documents, memoranda, and correspondence to ensure program efficiency and clarity.

Required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, international trade, economics, national security, national defense, or a related field; Master's preferred, or a Bachelor's with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong researcher and writer.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired

  • Experience with metrics, data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Experience preparing and delivering executive-level briefings.
