The role what you'll actually own
- Lead a civil engineering sub-department: own the quality, culture, and performance of your team of PMs, engineers, and designers
- Drive a high-value project portfolio — site development, grading, stormwater, utility design, and permitting from pursuit to closeout
- Be the senior technical authority — your stamp of approval matters on complex design, calculations, and project solutions
- Mentor and grow the next generation of civil PMs; build career paths, not just workloads
- Own project financials: budgets, invoicing, profitability, and backlog tracking against departmental targets
- Partner with the Director on business development — pursue major clients, lead proposals, and close work
- Establish and enforce the workflows, QC procedures, and documentation standards that define your team's reputation
- Serve as an escalation point for client relationships — you turn difficult situations into long-term partnerships
What you bring
PE license required
Bachelor's in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred)
10–15 years of civil engineering experience
Proven team leadership PMs and engineers reporting to you
Large-scale Commercial site development project experience
Stormwater, grading, utility, and permitting expertise
Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and hydrology software fluency
Strong financial management, budgets, forecasts, profitability
Business development track record preferred
Client-facing confidence at the executive level
