Futurewei has opening for optical design and vision science research intern position. Candidate will conduct research, modeling, and/or prototyping in the pioneering field of differentiable ray tracing, visual perception, and/or thermal management. The intern will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from senior researchers to explore and develop new and impactful technologies.

Responsibilities
- Optical designs and evaluation for 3D displays
- Evaluate human visual response with visual computing toolbox ISETbio
- Apply machine learning toolboxes to display optics design and/or human perception study
- Publish papers
- Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate in Optical Science, Vision, or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or relative major.
- Hands-on experience in optics lab (candidates with research experience will be considered)
- Knowledge and experience in Machine Learning toolboxes such as PyTorch.
- Knowledge in optical aberrations and in running commercially available optical design software, such as OpticStudio/Zemax
- Experience in writing codes for differentiable ray tracing is preferred
- Self-motivated detail-oriented team player.
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Have track record of publishing scientific papers.
