Engineering Manager - AI Agents

Their platform is live with leading enterprise clients at scale and is growing rapidly. They’re now hiring an Engineering Manager - AI Agents to own and scale the entire AI org. You’ll set the technical direction for production LLM-powered agents that handle real enterprise workflows - model routing, multi-agent orchestration, reliability, and evals. Both founders are engineers and you’ll have an outsized say on product direction while building the team from the ground up. Clear path to VP-level leadership as the org scales.
Responsibilities
- Own and scale the AI org across three teams: AI infrastructure (routing & reliability), agent intelligence (evals, shared tools, multimodal pipelines), and agentic products (customer-facing AI assistant, long-running workflows)
- Set technical direction for production agent systems - model routing, multi-agent orchestration, and reliability at enterprise scale
- Recruit, mentor, and retain world-class AI engineers - hiring the leaders beneath you as the org scales post-Series A
- Stay deeply technical - in the code and architecture, setting the bar by example
- Push the frontier of what AI agents can do in a highly regulated, high-stakes production environment
Requirements
- 7 years in AI/ML engineering with experience managing teams at a top tech firm
- Led an AI/ML team that shipped production LLM or agent systems
- Built and scaled an engineering team of 10
- Hands-on coder - agentic architectures, tool use, planning, multi-agent orchestration, evals
- Still writes and reviews code - can evaluate experiment design
- Experience with model routing, reliability, and multimodal pipelines
- Background at an early-stage or high-growth B2B SaaS startup
- Based in or willing to relocate to SF, NYC, or LA
