We are seeking an experienced Senior Web Applications Programmer to design, develop, maintain, and support complex web-based applications for Internet and Intranet environments. This role is responsible for analyzing business and technical requirements, building scalable and secure web solutions, supporting system integrations, and ensuring high performance, usability, accessibility, and reliability across enterprise web applications.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, application design, coding, testing, implementation, documentation, and production support. This individual may also serve as a technical lead, mentor junior developers, and contribute to architecture, standards, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain web applications, websites, and application components
- Gather, analyze, and translate business and technical requirements into effective web solutions
- Build and support forms, workflows, dashboards, web pages, and automation tools
- Develop front-end and back-end components for enterprise web applications
- Maintain and enhance public-facing and internal web systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, user issues, and production support incidents
- Ensure browser compatibility, responsive design, accessibility, and application security
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system specifications, and support procedures
- Collaborate with analysts, project managers, developers, database teams, and business stakeholders
- Support application integrations, APIs, and data exchange between systems
- Participate in code reviews and enforce development standards and best practices
- Research and recommend new tools, frameworks, and technologies
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5 years of experience in software development and support in a web-based or online environment
- 5 years of experience developing, maintaining, and supporting web applications
- Strong experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web design
- Experience with at least one modern front-end framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Experience with back-end development using technologies such as .NET, C#, Java, PHP, Node.js, or similar
- Experience working with REST APIs, web services, and system integrations
- Strong experience with SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
- Experience with debugging, testing, and production support
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and web application security principles
- Experience using version control tools such as Git or similar
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in government, public sector, healthcare, or regulated environments
- Experience with accessibility standards such as Section 508 or WCAG
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and deployment processes
- Experience with content management systems and publishing workflows
- Experience as a technical lead or mentoring junior developers
- Experience supporting enterprise or high-availability web applications
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments and application hosting
