Culinary Job Coach  Individualized Support Provider

Location: Futures Inc. Culinary Program – Hartford, CT
Schedule: Part-time to Full-time (approximately 30 hours/week); weekday hours with occasional flexibility required. Some weekends. Specific schedule will be discussed during the interview.
Compensation: $19.00–$21.00 per hour (based on experience)

Our culinary production program extends this mission by offering structured, hands-on training in food preparation, kitchen operations, and production workflow. Participants build transferable employment skills in a professional kitchen environment focused on consistency, quality, and teamwork.

Position Overview

We are seeking a patient, organized, and hands-on Culinary Job Coach / Individualized Support Provider to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a production-based kitchen setting.

This role blends direct support, skill-building instruction, and culinary production. The ideal candidate enjoys mentoring others while maintaining kitchen standards, workflow efficiency, and food safety compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coach & support individuals as they learn and perform food preparation and production tasks

  • Teach and model proper knife skills, kitchen safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures

  • Support recipe execution, batching, labeling, portioning, and packaging

  • Reinforce sequencing, time management, and task completion skills

  • Maintain production timelines while prioritizing participant engagement and skill development

  • Supervise individuals to ensure safety, focus, and positive workplace behavior

  • Promote independence through encouragement, consistency, and positive reinforcement

  • Maintain clean, organized, and food-safe workspaces

  • Document daily accomplishments, goals, and observations

  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and program staff

  • Transport individuals using a personal vehicle, following all driving and safety standards

  • Perform other duties as assigned



Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1–2 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or challenging behaviors preferred

  • 1–2 years of culinary, kitchen, or food production experience preferred

  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards

  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured kitchen environment

  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license

  • Reliable personal vehicle and current car insurance

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen-related physical tasks

  • Successful completion of background checks and required training
