Procurement and Logistics Manager

FutureFuel Chemical Company in Batesville, Arkansas, is looking for a manager for our Procurement and Logistics Team.

Job Summary

The Purchasing and Logistics Manager will oversee the end-to-end supply chain process for direct and indirect materials, combining strategic procurement with efficient distribution network management. This role is responsible for sourcing ~$100M in high-quality materials (both chemicals and indirects) and capital expansion materials, negotiating cost-effective supplier contracts, managing inventory levels, and optimizing inbound and outbound freight operations. The ideal candidate ensures that materials arrive on time, within budget, and in full compliance with industry standards to support our ongoing business growth.

Core Responsibilities of Purchasing and Logistics

• Procurement Strategy: Design and execute comprehensive purchasing strategies to secure raw materials, goods, or services at competitive market rates.
• Vendor Management: Source, evaluate, and build long-term relationships with global and domestic suppliers using objective performance scorecards.
• Contract Negotiation: Lead complex contract negotiations regarding pricing, credit terms, lead times, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
• Logistics Oversight: Direct inbound and outbound freight operations, including carrier selection, route optimization, and shipping schedule management.
• Inventory Control: Monitor warehouse stock levels using ERP/MRP systems to maintain optimal inventory balances and minimize carrying costs.
• Compliance Management: Ensure all import/export activities, customs documentation, and logistics processes adhere to local and international regulations.
• Cost Optimization: Analyze supply chain data and financial metrics to identify bottleneck exceptions and implement transportation cost-saving initiatives.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of purchasing technologists, and logistics coordinators.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, CAPEX, purchasing, or logistics management.
• Technical Savvy: High proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Negotiation Power: Proven track record of closing highly favorable supplier and freight carrier agreements.
• Analytical Thinking: Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills to read complex financial datasets and forecast price trends.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to align cross-functional goals across finance, operations, and external vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, or CPSM.
• Experience managing international trade, customs brokerage, and cross-border freight.
