Position Overview
The Montessori Daycare Director is responsible for overseeing the overall management, operations, and compliance of the daycare center in accordance with ODJFS Child Care Licensing Rules and Montessori educational principles.
The Director ensures a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that fosters each child’s physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth.
Key Responsibilities Administrative & Leadership Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of the Montessori daycare program.
- Ensure full compliance with ODJFS and state licensing regulations, health and safety codes, and staff-to-child ratios.
- Develop and implement center policies and procedures.
- Manage staff scheduling, attendance, and classroom coverage.
- Serve as the main point of contact for parents, staff, and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain accurate records, enrollment forms, and communication logs.
Educational Program Oversight
- Uphold and promote the Montessori philosophy in all classrooms.
- Support teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate activities aligned with Montessori materials and methods.
- Monitor lesson planning, child assessments, and classroom environments to ensure quality and consistency.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback to staff.
Staff Supervision & Development
- Recruit, train, and evaluate teaching and support staff.
- Provide ongoing professional development and coaching to ensure excellence in instruction and child care.
- Lead regular staff meetings to promote collaboration and growth.
Family & Community Engagement
- Maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through consistent communication and family engagement events.
- Represent the daycare center within the local community and build partnerships that enhance the program.
- Resolve conflicts or parent concerns promptly and professionally.
Financial & Operational Management
- Assist with budget preparation, tuition collection, and financial reporting.
- Ensure proper inventory management of classroom materials, Montessori equipment, and supplies.
- Participate in grant or funding opportunities to enhance program resources.
QualificationsEducation & Credentials
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Montessori Education, or a related field (required).
- Montessori Certification (AMI, AMS, or MACTE accredited) strongly preferred.
- Level 2 or higher ODJFS Administrator or Person-in-Charge Training certification (must be obtained or maintained).
- Valid Ohio Professional Development (OPDN) profile and CPR/First Aid certification
