Future Hearts, Minds & Dreamers (FHMD) is seeking dedicated, passionate teaching artists to lead arts enrichment classes for youth and seniors. We work with professional artists and educators across a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to:
- Dance
- Yoga
- Drama / Theatre
- Photography
- Film
- Creative Writing
- Visual Arts
- Culinary Arts
- Language Arts
- Martial Arts
Classes are offered in person, serving ages PreK–5th, 6th–12th, and 50 adult learners. FHMD provides flexible scheduling and collaborates closely with instructors and partner sites to meet the unique needs of each community.
Overview
FHMD offers wholesome, proven arts enrichment programming grounded in exploration, practical knowledge, and self-reflection. Our classes emphasize hands-on ensemble experiences alongside knowledge-based instruction. Curriculum is designed by the teaching artist and tailored to the specific age group served.
FHMD operates in multiple states, anywhere we have a qualified teaching artist. Sessions are typically aligned with the school calendar (Fall, Winter, Spring), with additional opportunities for Summer camps.
This role is ideal for working artists balancing multiple projects, rehearsals, or productions.
Class Structure & Scheduling
- Sessions typically run 6–10 weeks
- Classes meet once per week
- Class length: 45 minutes (PreK) or 60 minutes
- Instructors may teach existing FHMD classes or propose original class concepts
- Instructors provide a list of classes they are comfortable teaching and the age groups served
- Work is not guaranteed, but FHMD actively seeks bookings for approved instructors until notified otherwise
Once a class is booked, instructors will receive an official class offer by email and must accept, negotiate, or decline within 24 hours. Classes are awarded on a first-acceptance basis.
Compensation (State-Compliant Disclosure)
Compensation for this position ranges from:
$40 to $60 per class (45–60 minutes)
This range reflects the lowest to highest compensation FHMD reasonably expects to offer for this role in all US states. Compensation may vary based on class size and how our programs are being funded.
Benefits
This is a contracted teaching artist role. FHMD does not offer employer-sponsored health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, or other major employment benefits for this position. Flexible scheduling is provided.
Duties
- Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans
- Teach students in a classroom or virtual setting, providing individualized support as needed
- Utilize a range of instructional strategies suited to diverse learning styles and abilities
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and clean learning environment
- Foster creativity, collaboration, and social responsibility
- Track attendance and student progress as required
- Communicate professionally and consistently with FHMD staff
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in arts education within your discipline
- Knowledge of curriculum development appropriate to your teaching medium
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Commitment to creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment
- Reliable transportation for in-person classes
- Ability to provide your own materials, submit a materials list, or charge a materials fee as appropriate
- One year of teaching experience as the lead teacher
- BA or BS in their respective field
