School-Age Teacher / Afterschool Program Teacher
The School-Age Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for school-age children before and after school. This position includes covering staff lunch breaks, welcoming children as they arrive by bus, supervising snack time, and providing age-appropriate activities that support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of school-age children at all times.
- Cover classroom staff lunch breaks and maintain appropriate supervision during staff coverage periods.
- Receive children arriving by bus and assist them safely into the program.
- Take attendance and ensure all children are accounted for.
- Provide and supervise snack time while encouraging appropriate table manners and healthy eating habits.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, STEM activities, homework support, and other enrichment opportunities.
- Encourage positive social interactions, cooperation, sharing, and respectful communication among children.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom and activity areas.
- Follow all center policies and procedures, including health, safety, supervision, and emergency procedures.
- Communicate effectively with children, families, teachers, and other staff members.
- Provide positive guidance and support to help children develop independence and appropriate behaviors.
- Assist with transitions, clean-up, and daily routines.
- Complete required documentation, attendance records, and incident reports as needed.
- Perform other duties related to the care and supervision of school-age children as assigned.
Qualifications
- CDA or Associates in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Eperience working with school-age children preferred.
- Ability to create and lead fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Dependable, patient, energetic, and able to work effectively with children.
- Ability to maintain a safe and positive environment for all children.
- Must meet applicable state licensing and program requirements.
Job Summary
Pay: $17.50 - $18.00 per hour
