Future Fence Company, founded in 1979, is the largest installer of commercial fence in the state of Michigan and is focused on future growth. Our team of skilled craftsmen build some of the Midwest's most interesting ornamental architectural metal products for bridges, buildings and streetscapes out of a variety of metals including steel, aluminum, stainless and bronze.
Position Summary: Reporting the Estimating Manager, the Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for custom fencing solutions, gates, structural steel components, and other fabricated products. This role provides timely and precise pricing information that helps secure new business and ensures project profitability.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope of work.
- Perform material take-offs and quantity surveys for all fencing and metal fabrication elements.
- Develop pricing for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work.Analyze subcontractor and supplier bids for completeness and competitiveness.Assist in preparing and submitting detailed quotations and proposals.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal departments to clarify project requirements.
- Evaluate contract changes for cost impact and assist in post-bid review and analysis.
- Maintain organized records of bids, pricing, and project correspondence.

Qualifications / Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and estimating take-off software.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
Working Conditions:
