Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including chairside assisting for general dentistry, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety standards and regulations.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate medical documentation and adherence to HIPAA guidelines.
- Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and gathering medical history from patients.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures, ensuring a comfortable experience for younger patients.
- Operate 3D scanners for imaging purposes when necessary.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow effectively.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental terminology and familiarity with medical terminology related to dentistry.
- Experience with EMR systems, particularly Dentrix or Eaglesoft, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Understanding of infection control practices and anatomy knowledge relevant to dental care.
- Familiarity with medical coding, medical records management, and medical documentation processes is advantageous.
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, especially in pediatrics or pediatric dentistry.
