Outside Sales Representative for Established Manufacturers’ Rep Agency Needed
Established independent manufacturers' representative agency serving the wholesale plumbing and building products industry throughout New England. We partner with leading manufacturers and work closely with wholesale distributors and their customers to drive sales growth, support projects, and build lasting relationships.
Position Overview
This is a field-based outside sales role centered on wholesale distribution. You will call on plumbing wholesalers across your assigned New England territory and support their customers including mechanical contractors, builders, developers, architects, and designers, among others. As the primary liaison between our manufacturers and wholesale partners, you'll promote product lines, develop project opportunities, conduct training, and drive orders from specification through close.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, building relationships, and taking ownership of their territory. Independence, follow-through, and a genuine desire to sell are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Call on plumbing wholesalers and their customers throughout your assigned New England territory
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with mechanical contractors, builders, developers, architects, and designers
- Serve as the day-to-day liaison between manufacturers and wholesale partners
- Promote product lines and actively generate and close purchase orders
- Identify and develop project opportunities from specification through order placement
- The applicant should be comfortable communicating and training owners, purchasing agents, showroom personnel, engineers, and architects.
- Maintain consistent follow-up on open opportunities and active accounts
- Track activity, opportunities, and follow-ups using Excel and internal tools
- Stay current on product updates, new launches, and manufacturer initiatives
Qualifications
- Proven outside sales experience, or a strong, demonstrable desire to build a career in field sales
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable presenting, training, and asking for the order
- Strong written communication skills; professional email etiquette is a must
- Highly organized with strong time management and follow-through
- Self-starter who thrives working independently in a field-based environment
- Proficient in Microsoft 365
- Experience in plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, or building products is a significant plus but not required
- Must reside within the New England territory
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Travel
This role is primarily day-to-day car travel from your home within your territory. Some overnight travel may be required and is fully covered. Gas and expenses are reimbursed.
