Position Summary:
The Buyer is a member of the Purchasing Department responsible for the procurement of raw materials, supplies and equipment for the Huntsville Factory.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Receives, reviews, and processes purchasing requisitions.
- Prepares purchase orders or bid requests for materials, supplies and equipment.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains procurement records for items or services purchased, cost, delivery, product quality and/or performance and inventory.
- Thoroughly scrub bill of materials (BOM’S) to ensure pricing, quantity and product/material is correct and initiate corrective action when necessary.
- Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
- Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine sources of trouble and take corrective actions.
- All other duties as assigned by management to ensure the success of Futaba.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant field preferred.
- Associates degree in a relevant field and/or 3-5 years purchasing/materials experience of electronic components, materials, parts and supplies.
- Advanced MS Office skills, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook are required.
- Excellent analytical and planning skills.
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to travel as required.
