Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller will assist with financial statement preparation, variance analysis, audit support, acquisitions integration, and operational financial support while helping drive continuous process improvement and financial accuracy and compliance with US GAAP. The Assistant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review schedules, journal entries, and supporting documentation for financial reporting and compliance
• Manage accounting team to maintain efficient month end close cycle
• Own key account reconciliations and ensure accuracy, completeness and audit readiness
• Complete Balance Sheet reconciliations and resolve any variances
• Support treasury and banking-related activities
• Work directly with regional management and operational leaders to prepare monthly financial statements for assigned region(s)
• Ensure state and local tax filings are prepared accurately, filed timely, and associated taxes are paid accordingly
• Support newly acquired companies including onboarding, travel, training, and accounting integration processes
• Support ongoing efforts to document internal control processes and ensure compliance standards are met
• Assist with creating and updating financial policies and procedures while partnering with operational leadership on implementation
• Support annual audits including preparation of supporting documentation, responding to auditor requests, and assisting with financial statement preparation
• Assist with process improvement initiatives focused on scalability, operational efficiency, and financial reporting accuracy
• Manage, train and develop Accounting team members
Required Skills/Abilities
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally with operational and financial leadership
• Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to analyze financial trends and provide operationally focused recommendations
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information professionally and ethically
• Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office Suite software.
• Experience working in Sage Intacct is a plus
• Experience working in fast-paced, multi-site operational environments preferred
• Travel as needed within assigned territory (<20%)
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• Public accounting experience with Big 4 experience a plus
• Active CPA license preferred
• Experience with acquisitions integration and financial process implementation a plus
Physical Requirements
• Able to sit for prolonged periods while working at a desk and computer
• Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders in person, virtually, and by phone
