We are growing and looking for a Billing & Collections Clerk to join our team! In this role, you will support our accounting operations by performing a variety of clerical, filing, and data-entry tasks related to accounts receivable, billing, and collections.
You will also be responsible for creating and managing invoices, processing and recording customer payments, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Previous billing and collections experience is required. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with numbers, and experienced with accounting and financial systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts routine data entry for accounting records, including billing and accounts receivable.
- Reviews billing statements, invoices, and similar documents for accuracy; alerts supervisory staff of any discrepancies.
- Contact customers to resolve billing issues, ensuring delinquencies are managed before reaching over 90 days.
- Coordinate resolution of past due accounts by arranging for payment, repossession, etc.
- Research, compile, maintain, and manage data related to collection efforts.
- Distributes accounting reports as directed.
- May assist with mail distribution, answering telephones, and other clerical tasks as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data into computer software and systems.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness, organization, and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiating skills
- Able to work independently, with minimal or no supervision, as well as in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to prioritize workload, while working in a fast-paced & challenging environment.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Accounting experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Able to speak with customers on the phone.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
