The OSP Project Manager – Construction is responsible for leading and overseeing the Outside Plant Construction (OSPC) team. This involves ensuring the successful construction, installation, and maintenance of fiber optic network facilities. The OSP Project Manager will oversee daily operations, work with contractors, supervise staff, and maintain communication with customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Process Standardization:
    • Provide leadership and technical expertise to the OSPC team.
    • Standardize processes to improve efficiency and performance.
    • Ability to meet and maintain production levels set by management.
  2. Project Management:
    • Manage new OSP facility construction projects, ensuring they meet company standards and comply with local regulations.
    • Act as the main point of contact with customers for design changes, homeowner complaints and other construction-related matters.
    • Complete inspections of installed conduit and fiber.
    • Manage team of splicers.
    • Ability to read engineering documents and prints.
  3. Maintenance & Operations:
    • Schedule and manage maintenance, repairs, and upgrades for existing OSP facilities.
    • Resolve customer complaints, manage utility strikes and perform strike investigations and document accordingly.
  4. Team Support & Coordination:
    • Directly support in-house drill crews, and contractors.
    • Ensure the safe and efficient completion of construction projects, with a focus on safety and quality.
    • Adhere to our safety standards when completing drilling, installation of structures, traffic control, and restoration.
  5. Fleet & Equipment Management:
    • Oversee the construction fleet, tools, and safety protocols.
    • Conduct quality control audits to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Qualifications:

  1. Education:
    • A bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent job experience.
  2. Experience:
    • At least 5-6years of technical experience in engineering, construction, or operations within the telecommunications industry.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead technicians and contractors in telecom construction.
  3. Regulatory Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and federal, state, and local regulations (DOT/DOH).
  4. Software Proficiency:
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Proven ability to manage multiple construction projects across different geographical locations.
    • Excellent organizational skills to manage and track projects, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
  2. Technical Expertise:
    • Deep knowledge of fiber optic systems, construction methodologies, and network infrastructure.
  3. Communication:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders, including municipalities, contractors, and team members.
  4. Budget Management:
    • Ability to manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective project execution.

Ideal Candidate:

An ideal candidate would have a blend of hands-on technical expertise in fiber optics and network construction, leadership skills to manage large teams and multiple projects, and experience with budgeting and compliance. They would be an effective communicator, capable of liaising with regulatory bodies, contractors, and municipalities while ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within safety standards.

Salary : $70,000 - $100,000
