Job Overview
Texas Republic Signs, LLC, a Division of Fusion Sign & Design, is seeking an experienced Permit Coordinator to manage and execute the permitting process for sign projects nationwide. This role requires deep knowledge of municipal, county, and state sign codes - not just Texas, but across 35 other states. The ideal candidate can navigate complex permitting environments, coordinate with jurisdictions, and secure approvals efficiently to keep projects moving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the full permitting lifecycle for sign projects across the U.S.
- Review local sign ordinances, electrical requirements, and building codes for compliance.
- Prepare and submit complete permit packages for both on-premise and off-premise signs.
- Track permit progress, respond to AHJs, and resolve paperwork or compliance issues.
- Prepare and submit variance applications when needed, including documentation, presentation materials, and justification narratives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of permitting requirements in multiple states and municipalities.
- Coordinate with design, engineering, project management, and installation teams to ensure timely approvals.
- Build and maintain relationships with permitting authorities and third-party review agencies.
- Oversee and improve internal permitting workflows, documentation, and tracking systems.
- Manage junior permitting staff or external permit runners as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of sign permitting experience (preferred: multi-state or national programs).
- Strong working knowledge of sign codes in Texas and multiple other states.
- Proven experience submitting sign variances, including preparation of narratives and supporting documents.
- Ability to read and understand sign drawings, site plans, engineered drawings, and property surveys.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines across multiple active projects.
- Master Sign Electrician License is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to acquire and maintain license/agent registrations in additional states as needed.
- Proficient with permitting portals, municipal platforms, and digital submission systems.
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 65 per week
