Position Summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering products to customers and company locations. This role involves operating a company CDL vehicle, assisting with unloading when required, completing backhauls, and representing the company with professionalism at customer sites. Drivers play a key role in supporting our customers, food safety standards, and overall supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate company CDL vehicle according to company schedule to deliver products to customers
- Report any problems encountered with delivery or customers to Manager or designee, immediately
- Complete occasional overnight trips using sleeper berths
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD)
- Load, move, and unload product as required, including use of pallet jacks
- Communicate delivery status, delays, or issues using mobile applications
- Complete required paperwork, mileage reports, and fuel/receipt documentation
- Perform backhauls when required after deliveries
- Maintain clean, safe, and orderly equipment and work areas
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safety, food safety, and biosecurity procedures
- Report vehicle maintenance or repair needs promptly
- Represent Furst‑McNess with professionalism and strong customer service
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
- Strong safety awareness and customer service mindset
- Comfortable with mobile technology, ELDs, and routing applications
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate equipment issues clearly
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs., and occasionally handle additional feed bags, depending on the truck type
