Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, clipping, and styling tailored to each dog’s breed standards and individual needs
- Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and safety during grooming procedures
- Assess each pet’s coat condition and skin health; communicate any concerns or abnormalities to pet owners or veterinary staff
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and well-maintained
- Provide exceptional customer service by explaining grooming processes, recommending care tips, and addressing client questions or concerns
- Assist with pet handling during appointments, ensuring a calm environment that minimizes stress for the animals
- Support additional animal care tasks such as pet sitting or kennel duties as needed to promote overall pet well-being
Experience
- Previous experience in pet grooming is highly preferred; certification from a recognized grooming program is a plus
- Background in dog handling, animal restraint, or pet care enhances your ability to work confidently with animals of diverse temperaments
- Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience provides valuable knowledge of animal health and behavior
- Experience with animal handling across different species such as equine (horses) can be beneficial for versatile animal care skills
