Responsibilities
- Provide attentive pet care by supervising dogs during playtime, feeding, and rest periods in a safe and positive manner
- Assist with pet boarding, grooming, and administering basic health routines as directed by veterinary or veterinary technician staff
- Handle animals with proper restraint techniques to ensure safety for both pets and staff during cleaning, feeding, or medical procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common spaces through regular sanitization and waste disposal to promote a hygienic environment
- Monitor animal behavior closely to identify signs of stress, discomfort or illness; communicate concerns promptly to veterinary professionals
- Support outdoor activities such as walks or supervised play sessions to promote physical activity and mental stimulation
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions from pet owners and updating them on their pets’ well-being
Requirements
- Prior experience in veterinary settings, pet sitting, kennel work or dog training is highly preferred
- Strong animal handling skills with knowledge of animal behavior and restraint techniques
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and team lifting when moving supplies or assisting with animal transfers
- Experience with pet grooming, sanitation practices, and animal care routines is a plus
- Excellent communication skills combined with a friendly attitude towards clients and team members
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and stand for extended periods
- Knowledge of pet boarding procedures and animal behavior management is desirable
