What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional Pet Groomer position at Fur’s A Flyin’, LLC?
Expectations of a Professional Groomer at FAF:
Groomers at FAF focus on providing quality haircuts with compassion. While you should have a solid foundation in all aspects of grooming, our Grooming Assistants handle the prep work for such trims.
At FAF, we provide services to all breeds of dogs and cats. Animals who struggle or have special needs are welcome here. We work closely with our pet guardians and their veterinary clinic to recommend medication when necessary. Ensuring pet and staff safety is the number one priority.
A Professional Groomer at FAF, should expect to perform 6-8 haircuts in an 8-hour shift. The number of grooms expected is directly correlated with the size, coat type and behavioral tolerance of the pets on your schedule on any given day.
Our Groomers are expected to help clean and maintain their work area as well as the rest of the facility when warranted.
The ability to demonstrate patience and communicate professionally with clients and staff is expected.
Attendance and punctuality is also expected.
Having a tolerance for ambiguity and willingness to modify our groom schedule on the fly is also a key ability. We are happy to accommodate client requests for certain groomers. However, sometimes, late arrivals or surprise requests at drop off require us to change around which pets get assigned to which groomer at the last minute.
Our groomers are expected to work with pets of all sizes, coat types, and behavior. We work as a team to handle more difficult/complicated pets when needed.
Ideal candidates should:
· Be able to demonstrate the ability to perform high quality trims using appropriate trade related tools, or willingness to improve current skills with coaching from FAF owner. Photos and/or video of work performed is necessary.
· Knowledge of breed styles is helpful, however we trim to owner specification.
· Ability to recognize signs of stress or discomfort in pets with willingness to modify your approach to provide the best overall experience.
· Strong attention to detail is critical.
· Ability to receive feedback and implement suggestions for improvement.
· Handle large breed pets with assistance if needed.
Wage will be commensurate with experience and skills of the applicant. FAF also offers 48 hours of PTO and a minimum of 8 Holidays with pay. Holidays vary depending on the calendar year.
