This position is COMMISSION based.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, styling, and pet coat care tailored to each dog’s breed and individual needs
- Handle animals safely and gently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand their preferences, provide grooming recommendations, and discuss any health concerns observed during the service
- Maintain a clean, organized grooming station by sanitizing tools and work areas regularly to uphold hygiene standards
- Assist with pet handling tasks such as nail trimming, ear cleaning, and basic veterinary-related procedures when necessary
- Manage animal care responsibilities including feeding, light veterinary assistance, or kennel duties as required
- Support team members by participating in training sessions on dog handling, animal restraint, and customer service best practices
Qualifications
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong focus on dog handling and pet coat styling techniques
- Knowledge of animal handling, restraint methods, and pet care best practices to ensure safety for pets and staff alike
- Familiarity with veterinary procedures such as pet nail trimming and basic animal health assessments
- Background in veterinary technician or assistant roles is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with pet owners and team members
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for equipment or large animals; physically capable of standing for extended periods
- Prior kennel experience or pet sitting background is advantageous but not mandatory
