Hi I'm Heather Scott the owner of Fur Grooming Salon in Chagrin Falls, Ohio and we are looking to hire additional groomers!
This IS NOT your ordinary grooming shop. Fur is a luxury high-end grooming salon where each dog comes in at the time of their appointment to meet with their groomer and bather. Dogs receive a luxurious bath, conditioning treatment, facial and hand blow dry, then move their fluffy butts over to the grooming table! There are no kennel / drying cages in our salon, no muzzles or any types of restraints. If dogs have behavioral issues, I work closely with two of the best dog trainers in Chagrin who step in to meet with the groomer and dog owner to try and figure out the best way to help the dog with any issues. Our goal is for every dog to have a stress free grooming experience. Dogs shouldn't be "afraid" to go to the groomer! The only dogs in the salon are the ones being groomed at their scheduled time. No anxiety, no trauma, no long hours at the salon, and no chaotic barking!
I'm looking to build a very special grooming TEAM. A team who loves animals, is creative, has their own style and wants to learn the latest trends such as Asian Fusion, color, etc...I'm looking for groomers who want to make a name for themselves in this town, where people in town are saying, "omg, who groomed your dog"?!? A team where we all respect and learn from each other and want to continue getting better. Dog grooming to me is an art. If you think grooming is shaving a dog, trimming their nails and sending them on their way, DO NOT APPLY!
Chagrin Falls is a wonderful little town. All of my clients are so friendly and excited to have a grooming salon in town and continually are referring family and friends. Fur is continually getting bigger and better!
Duties
- Being kind, loving, and patient with our clients' fur babies (even the hard ones).
- Be personable with clients and build relationships with them. Our clients are allowed to come back to the grooming area. Some clients like to hang out during their dog's grooming session for example if their dog is very nervous, or a new puppy. Clients want to get to know us and trust me, it's like a beauty salon, ladies like to hang out and chat!
- Be hypersensitive to anything that raises a red flag with a dog's health such as areas that are bothering them, lumps and bumps, etc... and let your client know.
- Flexible schedule. You can pick which days/hours you want to schedule your dogs that works for you and your clients.
- Keep your area clean at all times and sanitize all tools after each appointment. You can decorate your room however you like (in good taste, nothing weird)!
- Grooming supplies and basic tools provided. Supply orders will be done on a team basis of who needs what.
Experience
- Must have gone to grooming school "or" if not, have 1 years experience. Candidates just out of grooming school without experience will be considered as a paid internship option.
- Must have good scissoring skills and know how specific breeds should be groomed. This is NOT a shave the dog salon!
- Looking for groomers who have favorite groomers they follow on social media to continually be learning new skills and tricks. My 3 favs are, Jess Rona, Gabriel Feitosa, and Irina Pinkusevich (Groom Haus)
- Must be willing to take mini classes online to learn new techniques which will be paid for by the salon.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
