Job description:
Located in Leland, NC Funston Company is seeking a highly motivated Safety Manager to assist in improvement in the work environment regarding safety by developing and implementing safety procedures, identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with health and safety laws.
Funston Company is a locally owned and operated site construction company that has been in business for over twenty years. Funston Company is based out of Leland, NC and services developers, general contractors and municipalities throughout southeastern North Carolina.
The Safety Manager is responsible for the communication, implementation, and enforcement of Funston’s safety plan.
Responsibilities:
- Safety is the top priority. Follow, implement, and enforce safety policies, (i.e., job safety meetings, proper use of safety equipment, compliance by subs/suppliers, etc.)
- Work with superintendents in developing, executing and monitoring health and safety plans and procedures and provide safety training to help prevent injury or harm to employees and property.
- Manages various aspects of our safety, health, and environmental programs.
- Develops and implements site specific safety plans to ensure compliance with OSHA, owners, clients, and other government regulations.
- Develops site-specific job hazard analysis to recognize hazards and reduce risks.
- Recommends and establishes plans, policies, and procedures for safety at all levels.
What we Expect:
- Performs jobsite inspections, conducts safety and orientation training, and prepares safety reports as required by company procedures and customers’ requirements.
- Performs daily inspections on all equipment and ensures that the operator has conducted their daily safety checklist.
- Performs daily inspections at our sites for OSHA compliance.
- Re-enforces general contractor’s site-specific safety requirements and Funston’s safety requirements.
- Performs accident/incident reporting and investigations.
- Attends project safety meetings.
- Reviews onsite crews job hazard analysis.
- Reviews and conducts Toolbox Safety Meetings.
- Reviews and updates SDS manuals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, or related field preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of safety experience in construction.
- Current certifications in OSHA 30 Hour, CPR, First Aid, AED Certified.
- Ability to identify known/potential exposures and recommend corrective actions.
- Strong leadership, communication, critical thinking, organizational, time management, problem solving and PC skills including Microsoft Office suite proficiency.
- Ability to work independently and freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
