Education And Experience
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, stand, sit, and walk. The employee must have the manual ability and dexterity to use tools for prolonged periods and the cognitive, intellectual, and mental functions necessary to handle more than one complex task at a time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment can vary, typical office noise. The position is subject to varying and unpredictable situations, and may handle emergencies or crises. This position may be required to perform testing in the office or chaos room, which may involve interacting with high voltages and currents that can be hazardous. Care and attention to detail are required to ensure safety during those interactions. Occasional overnight travel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
Product Design
- Research
- Document all testing parameters
- Hardware and firmware integration
- Work closely with electrical design engineers
- Create embedded firmware for new products
- Troubleshoot and debug firmware
- Create/maintain firmware documentation and development process
- Create/procure embedded development hardware
- Create/maintain processes and procedures for production programming
- Create/maintain GitHub repositories
- Attend and contribute to Team meetings
- Provide information and support to FDI team members and customers, as required
- Other duties as assigned

Education And Experience
- BA or BS in Applicable Engineering Discipline required
- 3-5 years of experience in embedded development preferred
- Experience with MPLAB X IDE and Microchip microcontrollers preferred
- Experience with TCIP/IP and BACnet embedded development preferred
- Knowledge of product installation environment
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Knowledge of best practices for embedded development
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
- Ability to distinguish between colors
- Ability to concentrate for extended periods
