The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce supports our members and our region as a partner for business, workforce, and tourism development. We provide resources, networking opportunities, and programs that strengthen economic development across our region.
Position Summary
The Executive Director provides overall leadership, direction, and management of the Chamber. This individual is responsible for executing strategic priorities, overseeing daily operations, ensuring financial sustainability, and serving as the primary representative of the organization. The role works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, members, government officials, and community partners to foster a thriving business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
●Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the Chamber’s mission, vision, and strategic plan
●Lead initiatives that support business growth, workforce development, and community engagement
●Provide leadership in advocacy efforts and regional economic development conversations
●Ensure programs and services align with member needs and organizational goals
Operations & Management
●Oversee day-to-day operations of the Chamber, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness
●Supervise, mentor, and support staff while fostering a positive and collaborative culture
●Manage organizational budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation
●Establish and maintain HR and operational processes in compliance with NYS regulations
●Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements
●Oversee the Chamber Foundation and maintain relationships with affiliated non profit entities
Membership & Community Relations
● Build and maintain strong relationships with members, prospective members, and partners
● Serve as a liaison between members and the Board of Directors
● Collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and workforce partners
● Represent the Chamber at community events, ribbon cuttings, and regional initiatives
Financial Development & Partnerships
● Develop and execute strategies to grow revenue through memberships, sponsorships, grants, and non-dues income
● Support long-term financial planning in collaboration with the Board
● Maintain key partnerships and contracts with Fulton County, SUNY Fulton Montgomery Community College, and HFM BOCES, including oversight of the Business Education Partnership
Marketing & Communications
● Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Chamber
● Oversee branding, marketing, and communication strategies to increase visibility and engagement
● Guide digital communications including website, social media, newsletters, and member outreach
● Support storytelling efforts that highlight member success and community impact
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, communications, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
● Minimum of 5–7 years of leadership or senior management experience, preferably in a Chamber, nonprofit, or business organization
● Strong leadership, interpersonal, and team management skills
● Excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation abilities
● Experience in financial management, strategic planning, and organizational development
● Proven ability to build relationships with business leaders, government officials, and community stakeholders
● Familiarity with economic development and regional business trends
● Proficiency with CRM systems, financial software (QuickBooks), and communication tools (Constant Contact, social media platforms)
● Knowledge of HR practices and experience working with insurance and benefits providers
