As a senior administrative leader, the Director of Information Technology provides strategic, operational, and technical leadership for information systems and technology services supporting Fulton-Montgomery Community College (FMCC). The position is based at and supports the FMCC campus while serving as an employee of Buffalo State University through its Information Technology and Enterprise Computing (ITEC) organization. The Director ensures the reliable, secure, and compliant delivery of enterprise systems and related academic and administrative platforms.
Working collaboratively with FMCC campus leadership, functional offices, and ITEC, the Director aligns technology initiatives with institutional priorities, supports student success and operational effectiveness, and advances modernization, data-informed decision-making, and continuous improvement across the College.
Salary: $105,000-$140,000
Responsibilities included but not limited to:
- Develop and maintain a multi-year IT strategic plan aligned with FMCC and SUNY priorities.
- Lead the operation, enhancement, integration, and continuous improvement of related academic and administrative systems.
- Oversee the availability, performance, security, and continuity of the College's technology environment.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives, risk management, incident response, security awareness, and compliance with applicable federal, state, SUNY, and industry requirements.
- Direct technology projects and initiatives while managing competing priorities.
- Oversee responsive IT service delivery and continuous improvement of service management processes, including incident, change, request, asset, and knowledge management.
- Supervise, develop, and evaluate IT staff while fostering a collaborative, service-focused environment and supporting ongoing professional development.
- Collaborate with FMCC, SUNY, and ITEC partners; comply with applicable policies and security requirements; document work through established systems; and respond to emergency technology incidents outside normal business hours as needed.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Significant experience in information technology leadership, including supervision of professional staff, and experience with enterprise systems, IT operations, cybersecurity, strategic planning, technology projects, budgets, procurement, and vendor management.
Preferred: Experience in a SUNY or public higher education environment; experience with Ellucian Banner or other higher education systems; and knowledge of IT service management, cloud technologies, databases, systems integration, or infrastructure technologies. Professional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or CISM are also preferred.
