Job Title: Forklift Operator
Pay Rate: $17.50/hr.
Shift: 1st
Benefits: Medical, Dental, AD&D, PSL
Summary:
Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift. Responsible for transporting, relocating, stacking, and rotating materials.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Forklift operators will be unloading materials safely.
- Efficiently load and stack materials in the appropriate designated areas.
- Ensure materials are accurate and free of damage.
- Move finished products from one production area to another.
- Inspect equipment for loads and safe transport.
- Conduct daily inspections on fork lift machines and report any damages.
- Report inventory control and rotate inventory stock.
- Inspect load for accuracy and safely move it around the facility.
- Complete required paperwork timely and accurately.
- Obtain a copy of the production schedule to ensure all production lines have the materials needed to keep the production line moving.
- Deliver materials to the kettle area –as needed.
- Deliver glass, boxes, caps and packaging supplies.
- Remove waste material to the waste area in an orderly fashion.
- Wear common PPE required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have two years’ experience driving a forklift in a manufacturing setting.
Qualifications:
- Basic Mathematics.
- Must have high regard for Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Must be able to follow instructions as given and have attention to detail.
- Able to repetitively climb on and off the forklift, turn and twist head , have good vision, quick reflexes and be able to sit, stoop, bend, squat, twist for a minimum of eight hours.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Must be able to follow instructions and have good communications skills.
- Must be able identify objects, actions and recognize differences or similarities to detect changes in circumstances.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50lbs periodically. Requires sitting, bending, twisting, walking, repetitive movement, and standing, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls. Requires exposure to hazardous equipment.
- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Be able to repetitively climb on and off the forklift, turn and twist head, have good vision, quick reflexes and be able to sit, stoop, bend, squat, twist for a minimum of eight hours
- Regularly required to talk and hear
- Must have good vision and manual dexterity
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures while on the production floor and in other parts of the building
- Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn while on the production floor
- Requires working in hot (above 90 degrees F) or very cold (below 32 degrees F) temperatures.
- Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
- Requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions.
- Requires working indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions.
- Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people
