Vocational Job Coach

Pay: $26/hr

Schedule:

• Full-Time, 40 hours per week
• Must be willing to work at least 1 weekend day consistently (Saturday/Sunday)
• Schedule flexibility required based on participant needs, job site assignments, and program requirements

As a Vocational Job Coach, you will support individuals participating in vocational programs by helping them develop workplace skills, connect with employment opportunities, and succeed in community-based work environments. This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and committed to empowering others to reach their goals.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct coaching, support, and skill development to program participants.
• Assist individuals in identifying and securing appropriate employment or vocational opportunities.
• Support participants in maintaining professional grooming and attire standards for workplace settings.
• Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and support participants in achieving established goals.
• Teach and reinforce positive work habits, interpersonal skills, and workplace ethics to promote job retention.
• Assist with transportation needs and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with employers, community partners, and state agencies.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and other required records.
• Provide coverage for program operations, including serving as a substitute for the Recycling Supervisor when needed.
• Encourage community engagement, social inclusion, and the development of natural support networks.

What We're Looking For

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• 6–12 months of experience in human services, vocational services, disability services, education, caregiving, or a related field required.

Certifications:

• CPR/First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain certification within the required timeframe.

Skills & Traits:

• Compassionate, patient, and reliable.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Sound judgment and effective problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while supporting diverse participant needs.
• Comfortable providing instruction and coaching in one-on-one and small-group settings.

Technical Skills:

• Basic computer proficiency for documentation, email communication, and recordkeeping.

Other Requirements:

• Valid driver's license, current vehicle registration, and proof of insurance.
• Ability to travel throughout the Portland metropolitan area.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
