Position Overview: As a Food Service Assistant II, you'll play a vital role in our school community by performing a variety of food service tasks. From assisting in food preparation to cashiering and inventory management, you'll contribute to ensuring that students have access to delicious and nutritious meals every day. Benefits: - Hours: The 6-hour daily position works (7 am - 1:30 pm), Monday through Friday, 9.50 months per school year. - Paid Time Off: Receive paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation days. - Comprehensive Benefits Package: Employees working more than 20 hours per week are eligible for a comprehensive prorated benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. - Opportunities for Growth: Gain valuable experience in a supportive environment with opportunities for advancement within the Nutrition Services Department. Qualifications: Education: - Equivalent to graduation from high school. Experience: - At least two years of paid experience working in school cafeterias and/or preparing and serving food, or equivalent combination of experience and training. - One year of successful experience as a Food Service Assistant I with Fullerton School District can be substituted for the above-mentioned two-year experience requirement. Requirements: - Passion for providing nutritious meals to students. - Ability to perform moderate-level food service tasks. - Strong teamwork and communication skills. Licensure and Certification: - Valid Class C California Driver's License required. - Food Handlers Card required within 30 days of hire. - Food Manager's Certificate required within 6 months of hire.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open recruitment. The examination may include a training and experience evaluation, a written test, a performance test, and/or a structured oral interview. To be placed on an eligibility list, candidates must pass each part of the exam. Final scores will be based on the weighted combination of all exam parts. If claiming Veteran's credit, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office when the application is submitted or before testing. The eligibility list will remain active for twelve (12) months and will be used to fill current and future vacancies. DATE OF EXAMINATION The exam date(s) will be announced later. Qualified candidates will be notified by email and/or phone with the details. Applicants who may need reasonable accommodation for interviewing or testing must notify the Classified Personnel Department at (714) 447-7458 before the testing date.
